Work on Hwy 2 to start on April 27.
The City of Priest River Sewer Project has begun, a portion of the work involves working in the center of Hwy 2. This work will begin on April 27. The Contractor and Engineer have worked with the City and ITD to detour traffic from Hwy 2 utilizing as much of the existing truck route as possible while keeping the route as short as safely allowable and directing traffic away from the downtown area as much as possible to allow the safe passage of travelers and minimal disruption for citizens.
Involved parties have agreed that the time is right to perform the work in order to take advantage of the lighter traffic due to the stay home stay safe campaign. Considerations have been made to allow for unobstructed access to the river crossing and truck scale at Wisconsin St and to State Hwy 57. Speed Limit on the detour route will be reduced to 15 mph.
East bound Hwy 2 traffic will turn South on Washington Avenue, then East on High Street, South Wisconsin Street, East on Montgomery, North on Treat back to Hwy 2. West bound traffic on Hwy 2 will turn south on Treat Street, west on Montgomery Street, North on Wisconsin Street back to Hwy 2.
Please be patient this detour will not last for long as the work on Hwy 2 is scheduled for less than two weeks, every effort will be made to get the work done as quickly as possible while maintaining quality and safety.
